I've moved to Spain again and hopefully for the last time, which also means it should be the last time I have to scramble for an appointment at the NYC consulate or anxiously wait for their approval. This time I'm pursuing my master's in Political Science. As fulfilling as being an auxiliar de conversación has been, seeing my students' progress and building meaningful connections with my peers, it hasn't truly contributed to my career. At twenty-five, I thought I would be further along. It's hard not to feel that way when so many people around me are already married, have children, or are established in their professions. I know I can't achieve all three in this next year, but I would like to at least achieve the latter. That's why pursuing my master's at the University of Salamanca felt like the right next step.
